Lusterware Commemorative War of 1812 Heroes Jug. England, c. 1813. The body has a bulbous shape with buff ground and puce transfer prints. One side with a depiction of American military heroes, shows an American eagle and shield surrounded by a chain of oval links, each containing the name of an American general, and with two clasped hands above titled “Brown” below. The reverse has a full-rigged ship with American flag surrounded by a chain of oval links, each containing the name of an American Navy Commodore, two clasped hands above titled “Rogers” below. It is 4 5/8 “ tall x 4 3/8” wide (body) x 5 3/4” from edge of handle to spout tip. Condition notes: wear along lustre rim and top og handle; Hairline at rim on eagle side, small (1/8”) chip on rim and a glaze flake to inner rim on ship side . Price: $900.00 (ref. B-752)
