WW1 YMCA Card Case with lovely celluloid covers- 1918-1919

$95.00

WW1 YMCA Card Case with lovely celluloid covers. 4” tall x 3 1/8” wide x approximately 3/8” thick. The front has Nine Allied flags with Britain in the center. These are above “AMERICAN” and the YMCA Red Triangle logo. The back has calendars for 1918 and 1919, with the bottom third having “ENGLISH MONEY & ITS EQUIVALENT VALUE” for the US Dollar and the French Franc. The cover and back are hinged with ribbon. On one interior the ribbon is crossed. On the other side it is two bars. If you place a calling card on the crossed ribbon side and close the case, then hinge from the other side, the card will be under the two bars! Magic? This magic and cool card case great covers, patriotic and colorful. Fragile? Yes it is. But this example is over 100 years old! It is in very good plus, solid condition, and opens in both directions. I really don’t know how this double hinge works, but it is functional. These were given to Allied Officers, NCOs and Enlisted Men as gifts by the Y.M.C.A. while they were “over-there”. The “Y” supported American troops at home and American & Allied troops abroad through WW1 and after, and in later conflicts. Price: $95.00 (ref. C-123)
