German WW2 Soldier's Pocket Knife

$160.00

German WW2 Soldiers Pocket Knife by Hermann Konejung. Just under 5” long folded. With the 4” blade open, the knife is 9” long. The wooden handle scales are held to the knife steel body bolsters with three small steel pins. The side of the blade (with the point pointing left, is factory engraved; “Wir hau’n uns durch”; We’ll get through! The ricasso on that side is marked “HERM. KONEJUNG” in a half round with the company trademark logo “dioptric glasses” below! Only the earpiece ends of the eye glaases are visible, the balance is on the ricasso, but out of sight. The wooden handle scale on this side of the knife has three 7mm (slightly over ¼”) pewter or zinc (non-ferrus) discs, possibly for the owner’s initials. This knife was likely carried by a fortunate German soldier as a private purchase utility folding knife. Perfect to slice bread, sausage, or fruits and veg! This knife could clearly “get through”!! It was well cared for. It still has vertile machine marks on it’s blade sides, from it’s original manufacture. Later mis-cleaning has left some fine bright scratches over the original finish, most noticeable in sunlight. The blade is full, with no sharpening loss. However, it has been sharpened and still has a good edge. This knife is made of carbon steel, which tends to darken with use. The metal finish is lightly darkened but in very good plus condition, and a nice even patina. A great knife and an example of a German Soldier’s personal kit. It is a wonderful WW2 German folding knife, with a prophetic engraving! Price: $160.00 (B-879)
