U.S. WW2 Navy Recognition Model of the British HMS Malaya Battleship

$65.00

U.S. WW2 Navy Recognition Model of HMS “Malaya”, a Queen Elizabeth Class Battleship. Wood and slush cast metal construction. 15 1/2” long x 2 1/2” wide x 3 1/4” tall. This recognition model was made by “H.A. Framburg & Co, Chicago” in “12-43” and is ink stamped twice, with that info, on it’s bottom. The body is wood. The superstructure is cast slush cast metal, and is held to the ship body by five screws. Each gun turret is held by one of those screws, allowing them to traverse. One gun on an aft turret is missing the barrel tip, and four other barrels are bent. I have left these as they are. There are modelers who could repair or straighten the barrels. I leave it to the new owner either they restore this model or display it as it is. The gray paint finish has minor loss at the bow and at a few places and edges. This loss is shown in the pictures. These were carried in wooden boxes aboard US Navy Ships to aid in silhouette recognition of other ships approaching, friend or foe. This is hefty and weighs nearly two pounds. If you are a fan of British Battleships, here is a nice scale model of one of their Queen Elizabeth Class Battlewagons. Price: $65.00 (ref. C-264)
