US post-WW2 Shoulder Patch & D.I. for US Occupation Troops in Berlin. Beer Glass variation
US post-WW2 Shoulder Patch & D.I. for US Occupation Troops in Berlin. Beer Glass variation
US post-WW2 Shoulder Patch and D.I. for US Occupation Troops in Berlin. The design is the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force with a medium blue background, with “BERLIN” rocker above. The design is modified with the normal shield shaped patch being shrunken in at it’s mid point to look like a beer glass. Included with the patch is a distinctive insignia for the same unit. It shows the Berlin Bear holding the SHAEF flaming sword standing in a medium blue beer glass field. At each side and at the base is a banner in white; “SPECIAL TROOPS BERLIN” as shown. The reverse has two pins for the clutch holding devises and is marked “P” in a circle. I believe this D.I. was made in Germany. These together are a nice example of the insignia worn by US Occupation Troops stationed in Berlin post WW2. This is an unusual variation of the SHAEF patch, and may be un-official. Price: $60.00 (ref. A-139)
