U.S. WW1 Field Range Number 2- complete with baking pans, stove pipes & etc.

$625.00

U.S. FIELD RANGE #2. This model was designed to be used for groups of up to 55 soldiers. Range #2, with all of its attendant utensils weighed just over 150 pounds. This stove is made with steel sheet stock, strap iron re-enforcement and some cast iron components. The largest part is the Range Box. Packed with the Boiler Plate on top it is 20” x 20 1/2” x 16 1/2” tall. The Range is a box within a box. The inner box is the oven and is accessed by the range door. The outer box circulates hot exhaust air from the Boiler Plate/Fire Box, which is set up behind the Range and is where a wood fire is built. The Boiler Plate/Fire Box is 21” x 21” x 6” tall, with a hinged end and a vent hole in it’s top. The hot air temperature can be regulated with the flue at the base of the chimney pipes, and by partially closing off the hole in the Boiler Plate/ Fire Box. Everything pictured packs up within the stove. There are two large baking pans, two smaller baking pans with their lids that cradle within the larger pans. Inside the smallest pan are the four sections of stove pipe, the elbow, two galvanized stove thimbles and two pieces of angle iron. All the accessories; pans, pipes and the elbow are component-numbered. The pipes are marked with the sub-contractor’s name and company location. The Pans are marked with component numbers and Quarter Master info. The stove pipes, the two inner pans, the thimble and the angle iron lengths are all un-used and in as-new condition. The inner pan carries these, and has oil residue which has protected these components over time. The outer baking pans look like they have seen use, but are sound, with no damage other than use stains and soiling. The Range Box has a nice cast iron makers badge affixed at the center of the door; “ARMY FIELD RANGE No 2, CONTRACT OCT 16, 1918, MESKER BROS IRON CO, St LOUIS, MO” with two crescent moon logos and “US 61” at the center. The Range Box and Fire Box lid have been used. Any rust currently present is surface rust, and could be removed. This U.S. Field RANGE would be great for reenactors, living history or for display. It weighs about 150 pounds. I can strap it down on a small footprint pallet, to be shipped it at buyer’s expense. Or I am willing to discuss you picking it up, my delivering, or meeting in the middle. What would be nicer while reenacting than to wake up to the smell of bread baking! Hot coffee and a slice of warm bread for breakfast! Humm! Price: $625.00 (ref. C-268)
