U.S. WW2 Kinfolks Blade marked M-3 Fighting Knife. The blade is marked; “U.S. M-3 KINFOLKSINC.”. The 8-groove leather washer handle is in excellent condition with a rough finish. There is 90 % of the bright blue metal finish remaining on the knife over-all. The blue has thinned to bright metal at the tip. The blade edge is the factory sharpening; the “line of white” on most of the blade, with some use of the edge towards the tip. There are several light rust stains in the tip area, but the metal doesn’t appear to be pitted in these spots.  The slightly rounded butt has a strongly stamped U.S. Ordnance Acceptance Flaming Bomb on it’s flat next to the repeat-peened tang. Both the guard and the pommel retain all of their blued finish. This M-3 comes with a M-6 Scabbard, made by Viner Brothers. It is marked at the throat front; “U.S. M-6” and “VINER BROS. 1943” The “U.S. M-6” stamping can be seen but has become indistinct since it was weakly stamped close the the throat opening.  The scabbard in very good plus, carried condition. A leather thong leg-tie is wrapped around the scabbard tip. The total production of the nine manufacturers of M-3 Fighting Knives in WW2 was 2,590,247 knives produced. Kinfolks Inc, of Little Valley, NY, was the fifth smallest producer with 135,548 knives produced. This Kinfolks Blade Marked M-3 is in a great bright blue finish with tight and un-oiled 8 groove handle. It has been carried but it is in very desireable condition. These early KINSFOLK blued-finish M-3’s are tough to find. Price: $1,650.00 (ref. A3-9)
