U.S.M.C. WW2 Large 7 X 50 Binoculars in Case- Bausch & Lomb
U.S.M.C. Mark 28 7X50 Binoculars with U.V. Eye Piece Filter and Case. The binoculars are 7 ½” long x 8 ¼” wide x 3” tall. Very nicely marked and dated; “U.S. Marine Corps, Mark 28 NO. 71801, 1944” in white letters with; “Bausch & Lomb, Opt. CO., ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S.A.” embossed on the right body tube panel near the eye piece. The left body tube panel is embossed; “7X50”. The optics are bright with the large 50 mm. front glass. Looking into the optics from the large end; the mirrors and edges of the optic glass appear very clean and blemish free on the left barrel. The right mirror has several paint flakes and some edge fuzziness. These age issues only affect the edges of the image on the right eye barrel when in use, and are nearly invisible in your field of view. Included is a Beck-Lee “INFA-RED” Filter. It is marked; “V.D. FILTER (INFA-RED) USMC-44 BECK-LEE CORP, these clip onto the eye-piece of the binoculars. This whole outfit is in nice condition, and made by a premium US optics company; Bausch & Lomb. The rubberized case and strap are made by “HOOD” as marked in the case’s bottom. B&L produced Aviator Ray-ban Glasses during WW2, which have remained a favorite world-wide (though now owned by an Italian company). This pair of USMC Glasses in their period case would be a great addition to an Optic or US Marine Corps collection. They are worthy of optical restoration if desired, or would be fine for use as-is. Price: $275.00 (ref. B-920)
