World War One YMCA Patch- two piece. 2 5/8 wide x 2 1/4” tall. The base backer is black wool felt with a course weave cotton backer. A corded red thread triangle embroidered to the backer. The YMCA is embroidered on a rectangle and hand sewn on the base. The embroidery is done with course twisted rope red thread work. Worn on the shoulder as an SSI. There are losses due to moth nips to the rope embroidery at shown. Still a rare and very dimensional patch that was most likely European theater-made by a French or British taylor.
