WW2 Western Fighting Knife- No. G 46-8”
WW2 Western Fighting Knife- No. G 46-8”
Western Fighting Knife- No. G 46-8”. This example has a lovely blued 8” blade and a stacked leather washer handle, at either end of the handle are black/red/black washers. These knives were manufactured using a double tang and the tang metal is visiable on the top and bottom of the handle. The oval butt has two peened tang ends. The ricasso, knife pointed left, is marked; “WESTERN, PAT’D.” The blueing is thinning where worn, but lusterous, with approximately 85-90% remaining, with loss at the blade edge and on highlights. This knife has been carried. The handle is very nice with a small bruise on on side and a small group of bruises close to the pommel on the other. It comes with it’s original leather sheath. A prior owner cut the sheath neck while putting the knife in it. This cut has been “restored” and appears to be a sound job. I believe Western recognized this problem since some of these No. G46-8” Fighters have a metal throat on the leather sheath. With that mentioned issue, the sheath is in very nice original condition, with a sound snap closure strap. This pair will display wonderfully. This is a scare Western Fighting knife, made in Boulder, Colorado. Price: $475.00 (ref. B-757)
