1967 ZIPPO Lighter “2nd Submarine Development Group”. Polished chrome with satin sides. One side engraved with the Submarine Distinctive Insignia on the lid side and “2nd Submarine Development Group” below. The engravings are missing most of their “paint-in” with bits of yellow remaining. This one has the date code on the base for 1967, and has the proper insert. This ZIPPO has been well used and has a slightly loose hinge, most noticeable when it is opened. The insert has been removed and inserted enough to score the side of the insert body. The insert is the early 1967 variation, which includes the patent number, although these markings are weak and worn as noted above. In late 1967 a new insert variation was introduced which did not have a patent number. With the submarine engraving, and 1967 manufacture, this is an interesting ZIPPO. Price: $38.00 (ref. A-221)
