Austrian Silver Cigarette CASE. post-WW2 Volunter Agencies engraved

Austrian Cigarette Case. This jewelry quality cigarette case has nice cross hatched checkering on the front and back. It is flat and boxy. The initials; “W.K.” are towards the upper left corner of the front in 14 kt. Gold. 3” X 4” .900 Silver case having a gilded interior and a continuous piano hinge on it’s left edge. It is engraved; “THANK YOU  FROM THE VOLUNTARY  AGENCIES AUSTRIA”, in three lines on the right-wing interior. The gold gilding is even and present on both interiors.  The original yellow elastic cigarette holders are still present.  The inscription is a reference to post-WW2 European re-construction and refugee work. It was done through the combined efforts of various U.S. and Allied agencies. This case was obtained from the estate of an O.S.S. veteran. 134.6 grams (4.34 troy oz) of .900 silver. Nicely marked in the lower right of the right interior wing; “1221’, four leaf clover “logo”, “.900” and an indistinct “logo”. A push button is on the right edge of the right wing.  Price: $250.00 (ref. C-225)
