BEATTIE Jet Lighter- circa 1940's

$50.00

BEATTIE Jet Lighter. This hefty nickled finish lighter is marked on the bottom; “BEATTIE jet LIGHTER, MADE IN U.S.A., U.S. PAT. 2,242,906, U.S. PAT. 2,433,707” in three lines. Also it has a Circle R logo, next to the two patent lines. The first patent number is from 1941 and the second is from 1947.  It is an open top design, with a flip up cover over the wick and striker. Next to the wick is a small metal tube. When the wick is lit and the lighter is tipped forward, the end of the tube is within the flame of the wick, after a moment the gasses in the tube are pressurized and a flame extends several inches from the tube head. This can be used to light a pipe, or impress your friends! 1 11/16 wide, 2 1/8” tall, 5/8” thick. This example is in nearly un-used condition with a bright finish and plenty of wick. The body is a non-ferous metal, I would think brass with a nickle finish. In near excellent condition. It functions perfectly. Price: $50.00 (ref. TB B-625)
