chromed AIRPLANE Desk Lighter. A Great Lighter

$145.00

AIRPLANE Desktop Lighter. Chromed slush cast “white” or “pot” metal, 5 7/8” long x 5” wing-span x 3” tall at lighter lid. Turning the 2 5/8” propeller releases the lighter lid and sparks the flint. The base is bake-lite or similar period plastic material, with a smaller inset oval area having the screws to fill with fuel and for flint replacement; both appropriately marked; “FLINT” & “FUEL”. The oval sides are marked “MADE IN USA” and “PAT. PEND.” Between the screws is an intertwined “DC” logo . The maker is unknown to me. The chrome finish is heavy and nice. There is a casting flaw “pimple” on the left top wing. The chrome is thin on the wing bottoms and the pedestal of the base. The black painted lighter lid (cockpit) has a 1/8” x 3/16” chip to it’s corner, with darkened patina underneath. Turn the prop, release the lid, and the lighter sparks. I mail these fuel/petrol lighters dry. I am sure this one will function with fuel added. I would date this lighter to the late 1940’s. This example is in very nice original condition, clean and ready to fly. Price: $145.00 (C-133)
