German WW2 Package of Cigarette Tobacco "Feiner Turkischer ZIGARETTENTABAK"

$75.00

German WW2 Package of Turkish Cigarette Tobacco. "Feiner Turkischer ZIGARETTENTABAK”. Packaged by AUSTRIA TABAKWERKE A.G. VORM, OSTERREICHISCHE TABAKREGIE, as noted on the back of the package 3 1/2” x 2 3/4” x 1 3/8” red and yellow paper package of 50 grams of loose cigarette tobacco. There is a 5/8” wide x 6” long Tax Stamp, which runs across the back of the package and is glued to each folded-closure end. The stamp notes a tax of 30 Reichmarke per Kilo of Tobacco. A blank portion has the German Eagle impressed into the paper of the seal. On this package, the Tax Stamp is loose from the package across the back, and still attached at the ends. At the AUSTRIA logo marked end, the stamp is half torn through, but still glued to the package end, and in one piece. The front of the package has a tear poked through the package at the weight; “50 GRAMM NETTO FEINSCHNITT” as seen at the “G” of GRAMM and through “EIN” of FEINSCHNITT. This 3/8” long tear is visually closed and not particularly noticeable. This WW2 German Package of Turkish Tobacco was likely available commercially in Germany, but also available to the German armed forces as a ration. These packages are incredibly scarce. Price: $75.00 (ref. B-959e)
