Mohawk Rubber Company TIRE Advertising Ashtray, circa 1960's

$45.00

Mohawk Rubber Company, Akron, OHIO, TIRE Advertising Ashtray. The bias ply Mohawk “Super Chief” Tire is 6” in diameter. It is a nicely detailed rubber miniature. “MOHAWK RUBBER COMPANY, AKRON, O. MADE IN U.S.A.” and the Mohawk Indian “logo” with “Super Chief” info molded in both sidewalls! The glass insert is a period insert, but advertising “Firestone” at the “New York World’s Fair”, and showing the Firestone Pavilion roof line and exterior. The fair took place in April through October 1964. Many times these inserts were plain glass. I would say that Bias Ply Tires were the majority of tires sold in 1964, and this Mohawk advertising Ashtray is of that vintage. There are scattered small red paint smudges, however overall, this ashtray is in near excellent condition. These were in every filling station, repair shop and tire store when I was a kid. Now they are tough to find. Price: $45.00 (B-821)
