U.S. Navy WW2 20mm "Trench Art" Lighter

$50.00

U.S. Navy WW2 20mm "Trench Art" Lighter. This is a nicely converted 20 m.m. Shell with an explosive projectile which has been made into a Table Lighter. It is totally inert and deactivated for it’s original purpose. 7 3/16” tall. The primer has been removed, showing the threading to screw primers into this steel shell. The head stamp is: “20-M.M.-MK.-3, M.D.C. 1944 R.V. anchor (logo)”. The projectile is steel with a copper collar and threaded brass tip. The interior of the tip is threaded to add a detonator when these were loaded, but which is now not present. Now the tip can be removed to add lighter fluid. When the projectile is removed from the shell, the lighter assembly is exposed in it’s base. This striker wheel and wick lighter assembly is a rather lightly constructed, and I have not added a flint to the mechanism. The shell will stand, but is not totally flat and it manages to wobble. This is a nice example of a WW2 20 m.m. shell with an explosive tip and it has been deactivated and fashioned into a Lighter. Price: $50.00 (ref. C-184b)
