U.S. World War Two Hand Grenade Table Lighter

$165.00

U.S. World War Two Hand Grenade Table Lighter. The body of a WW2 Hand Grenade has been converted to a lighter by adding a 1940’s flint and striker lighter head and threating the base of the grenade body to fill the lighter with lighter fluid. The body is in a OD paint with most of the period original paint remaining. The “pineapple” body has the cast mark “L” in a diamond logo of the original foundry which cast this grenade. The “L” is for Littlestown Foundry of Littletown, PA. During WW2 they were awarded contracts and made over 1.2 million hand grenade bodies. Their motto is; “Doing it right since 1916”. Check out their website! The bottom threaded plug has a slot cut for a penny to turn the plug for refilling with lighter fluid. It is a non-ferric metal which has a pewter like finish, as is the striker assembly. It is nicely designed with a wick base screwed into the top of the grenade, while the striker and wick cap thread onto the wick assembly. The wick cap is chained to the striker assembly. Because there is the original lighter gasket on the filler cap, this lighter holds fluid forever. Inert, de-activated World War Two period U.S. Grenades are very scarce. This lighter is an attempt to turn “swords into plow shares”.  It would look great on your desk! Price $165.00. (ref. B-643)
