U.S. WW2 Army Air Corps Ashtray. 5 3/8” diameter x 5/8” high. Stamped sheet steel with a painted finish and a pearlized plastic disc in the center. (sight size 1 3/4”). This ashtray has a gold paint overall with a 1/8 blue outer edge and band around the central disc. The bottom has a gray paint finish, with a well worn base. The disc has “US ARMY AIR CORPS” surrounding the “Winged Propeller” distinctive insignia. The insignia looks hand painted, and has nice detail. These ashtrays probably were used in Officers’ and EM/NCO Clubs as well in briefing rooms and offices. This example is clean, but has been used, and shows light cigarette butt stains from use.
