U.S. WW2 ARMY NURSE CORPS "Make-do" Souvenir Cigarette Lighter.

$135.00

World War II ARMY NURSE CORPS “Make-do” Souvenir Cigarette Lighter. It is a brass VANS SPITFIRE Lighter with black crinkle paint finish. 2 14” wide x 2 ½” tall x 9/16” wide. The front has the ARMY NURSE CORPS metal insignia attached, with scratched wording; "AFRICA”, “FRANCE”, “ITALY", and “GERMANY” around the insignia. The reverse has "8th EVAC”, “51st Sta. Hosp”, and “115th Sta. Hosp." in 3 lines with the initials; "M.B.P." below. The wick cover arm has a wind shield which pivots open. This shield is slightly bent, but is solid. The fill cap at the base has an extra flint container, which screws to the cap. The flint container is tight and I did not force it to open. The flint cap identifies the maker; it is marked “VANS SPITFIRE” and “PAT. RE” and “No 19023”. This Army nurse got around and saw action in Africa and Europe in several postings. If this lighter could talk! Price: $135.00 (ref. B-909)
