ZIPPO Table Lighter. 4^th Model Bancroft Table Lighter. Introduced in 1953. The first table lighter with an insert, self-contained lighter. The insert present in this example is the 1953 Full Stamp with the “C” in circle copyright logo. The 4^th Model was in the catalogue from 1954 through 1979. These were offered in bright and brushed finish, this example being the brushed. Nearly all of the felt base material is present, with one “pin head” loss towards it’s center. The hinge is a large five-barrel design, which was seen on early 1950’s Pocket ZIPPO’s. This example has a very good finish. With the hinge on the right side, there are some peck dings on the side of the lid and a few lighter dings on the body on that side. There is a 3/8” cat whisker scratch on the top of the lid. It should be noted that these Zippo Table Lighters had additional batting material inside their base, as well as a wick placed at the base of the lighter insert. This would allow for extra capacity of fuel. These table lighter have nice heft, weighing 12 ounces.
