German Composition Toy Soldier "Charging with Rifle" by ELASTOLIN, circa 1930's. 2 1/2”” tal x 3 1/2” long. These are composition material (kaolin, saw dust and hide glue paste over wire armature) which is formed in molds and baked. They were often farmed out as piece work to Haus Fraus to be hand painted to strict quality standards. The base is marked “Elastolin GERMANY”. The ELASTOLIN brand is one of the top tier of German Composition with Lineol close ahead. This example is nicely detailed with eye lashes and brows, combat pack and equipment and rifle. It has about 85% of it’s original paint remaining, with wire armature showing in the legs and in the base markings. An extra nicely modeled and painted figure by LINEOL. Price: $26.00 (ref. C-125)
