1930's Walt Disney "FLIPPY MICKEY" Motion TOY, Mint!
1930's Walt Disney "FLIPPY MICKEY" Motion TOY, Mint!
1930’s “Flippy Mickey” motion Toy. This hand held toy consists of an articulated MICKEY MOUSE swinging from a cotton string “high-wire” tightened and loosened by two vertical ½” x 8 ¼” wooden stick handles. By gently squeezing the handles, Mickey does forward and backward flips and summersaults, with his legs swinging forward and back. What makes this example stand out is it’s near mint condition. The colors on Mickey’s printed paper-covered body are bright and vivid. The bottom of his trunk is marked “(copyright logo “c” in a circle), WALT DISNEY, MFG BY M B CO USA”. Because this is printed on Mickey’s paper skin, and his body is punched from a thin sheet of soft wood, the printing “MFG BY M B CO USA” is partially cut off at it’s bottom, making it only partially legible, as are the edges of his face, ears, and body. This is typical of all examples of this scarce hand toy. It was made for WALT DISNEY Studios by the Milton Bradley Company, whose games had similar printed paper covered wooden pieces. The two strings on this example are the originals, and even the steel rivets and washers holding Mickey’s arms and legs to his body have most of their bright original finish. A wonderful survivor! Price: $225.00 (ref. A-24)
