Black Forest hand-carved Standard Schnauzer figure. This German wood carved Schnauzer is on skis, moving forward with the help of his ski poles. Nicely carved probably after World War One.  He is 4 ½” long x 1 7/8” tall. The dog’s feet are pegged into his nicely carved skis. Note the baskets on his poles. The AKC says the Standard Schnauzer is of rugged build and dense harsh coat are accentuated by the hallmark of the breed, the arched eyebrows and the bristly mustache and whiskers.
