Fantastic Hand Forged Eel Fork
Fantastic Hand Forged Eel Fork
Hand forged iron Eel Spear Fork. A central 20 inch shaft starting at a socket formed end, where a wooden shaft would attach, and tipped with a 3 ¾”center tine. A hammered weld is evident at the joining of the socket sheet stock and the shaft solid stock. Three other squared pieces are formed to create six more 5 “ tines. Each tine has barbs cut into their edges. Outer tines have bards on their inner edges only, outer edges of these are smooth.. A locking wedge holds the three tine pieces into place. Beautiful hand forged construction. Tines are beautifully rounded and the symmetry is excellent. This Eel Spear is the work of a master blacksmith. Found in Eastern Long Island, New York.
