YMCA British Boys for British Farms numbered Badge. This is a scarce original circa 1940's 'Young Men's Christian Association- British Boys for British Farms Lapel Badge. British Boys for British Farms was formed in 1932 as a means of introducing unemployed young boys from towns to the way of life in the countryside and to boost the country’s agricultural production both before, during, and after World War Two. The program was supported by the British National Farmers Union, the War Agricultural Committee, and the Ministries of Agriculture and Labour. The badge is enamel on brass, 1 3/16” (30mm) in diameter. It has an outer title surround of blue enamel, and a red “Y” triangle with dimensional image of a boy riding a horse within. The reverse has raised maker's details; 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St Birmingham' and official issue number '3946', stamped into the crescent shaped button hole devise. This badge is in very good condition, with minor wear consistent with use and age. Price: $80.00 (ref. B-989)
